It is thought to have been built for the Bristol Turnpike Trust in 1835 in the form of a lodge house with angular front. The external features consist of two-storeys on a canted bay front floor plan, a hipped, hip over bay, slate roof, with walls mainly of squared white stone, mullioned windows with latticed lights. It has a blocked front with a window replacing the doorway. There is an open area and drip moulding over door and an ornate central hexagonal chimney stack. The building is Listed Grade II.
